Nokia and Microsoft might have thought of buying RIM

Dec 22nd, 2011No Comments

Nokia and Microsoft toyed with the idea of buying RIM, makers of BlackBerry phonesOkay this one got our eyebrows all up! With a recent article published by WPCentral which quoted an analyst saying that RIM should probably adopt Windows Phone to stay in the race getting us to jump out of our chairs, this new one comes as an absolute doozy!

It seems that (at least that’s what Wall Street Journal  is claiming) Nokia and Microsoft of jointly bidding for RIM and acquiring it completely. How much of this is true and how much just pure speculation is unknown at this time. However it is known that Nokia and Microsoft regularly met RIM, all the while discussing the industry and probable partnerships. The article also goes on to state that Co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie is not seriously considering a bid until the company sees how their new OS performs on the market. The new OS is expected to come in only by late 2012.

Interestingly, there may be, just may be an outside chance that RIM goes with the Nokia/Microsoft alliance. This’ll be interesting to watch!

This bit is even more interesting that Amazon who evinced interest in acquiring them was rejected outright. Now we hear Sony Ericsson may have also made a pass at RIM.

If you ask us, the story of who will get RIM just keeps getting better and better everyday. We do hope they are able to pull through and remain in the game.
