Nokia Announces Lumia 800

At NokiaWorld the company’s annual event for consumers, partners and developers held in London, announces Nokia Lumia 800 Windows phone device. The Nokia Lumia 800 is Nokia’s first Windows Phone device.

Nokia Lumia is the first smartphone from Nokia running on Windows Phone operating system. The Nokia Lumia 800 has a all curved polycarbonate body just like the N9. The phone measures 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1mm and weighs 142g.

The device has a bright 3.7-inch AMOLED Clear Black curved Display with toughened glass stretching to the ends of the device. The touch keys are set in the glass so there are no interruptions to the surface of the device.

Inside of the device consist of a powerful 1.4Ghz processor and a graphics co-processor delivering a silky smooth user experience. The device has an on-board storage of 16GB and comes with Free SkyDrive online storage of 25GB and a 512MB of RAM. (Here is the Lumia 800 data sheet)

On the back we have a 8MP Auto Focus camera with Carl-Zeiss optics and shoots High Definition videos at 30 frames per second.

Social applications like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are all integrated into the Peoples hub a unified contact list. Internet Explorer to take care of browsing needs along with support for the latest standards such as HTML5 applications. The Lumia 800 offers upto 13hours of talktime and Standby of 265hours on a 1450mAh battery on GSM networks. The phone comes in three vivid colours: black, cyan and magenta.

Lumia 800 comes with signature Nokia experiences optimized for Windows Phone. There are some pre-installed applications like Nokia Drive, offering Free-turn-by-turn navigation and dedicated in-car-user-interface. Nokia Music, introducing MixRadio, which is a free, global mobile music-streaming application delivering hundreds of local channels of locally-relevant music.  There will be an update to these Lumia devices later this year which will enable them to create personalized channels from a global catalog of millions of tracks. Also integrated in Nokia Music is Gigfinder, providing the ability to search for live local music, also share discoveries on social networks and buy concert tickets features will be coming in the Nokia Music software update delivered later this year.

The Nokia Lumia 800 has already started shipping and is available in selected countries for pre-orders start today at www.nokia.com and will be rolled out from November in  France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, across 31 operators. The estimated retail price is €420, before any local taxes or subsidies. Other territories including Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan will see the Nokia Lumia 800 before the end of the year, with even more markets following in early 2012.
