Samsung might give a value pack of sorts to Galaxy S and Tab owners

Dec 29th, 20112 Comments

Samsung is working out a way to mitigate the backlash caused by its announcement of not providing the all new Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update to the owners of the Galaxy S and Tab.

AndroidCentral is reporting that there’s a report from South Korea stating that Samsung is exploring a way to deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich like UI and other bits to the owners of Galaxy S and Tab users. While this is a middle ground being actively explored by Samsung. It’s not going to appease a set of hardcore Samsung Galaxy S owners who were expecting to see Ice Cream Sandwich on their phone. For the majority for whom it doesn’t matter which version of Android they are on, it might hardly make any difference.

Whatever the case may be, it’s definitely sad that owners of the two products will not be getting an official update for their products. Looks like all the ‘old’ products will jump to CM9 and other such mods.

But, then why do not they update SGS Plus i9001 to ICS? That phone has same specs as “SE Xperia Arc S” which is getting ICS treatment.
They cannot say that i9001 cannot run ICS because of “hardware limitations”. And that phone is still on sale in many telekom operators shops.
Even LG announced ICS for Optimus Black which is weaker than i9001. I want to know why Samsung refuse to update i9001???
