Skype for Android gets performance boost and file sharing

Dec 14th, 2011No Comments

Skype has been fervently working at improving their position in an increasingly mobile centric world. After being acquired by the Redmond guys, it’s become even more focused at making the move to mobile devices.

Well apart from increasing the number of handsets supported, Skype has also been working at improving the experience overall.

The new Skype 2.6 for Android gets quite a bit of improvement under the hood. Changes include -

1. Better battery consumption (if you are on Tegra 2 based devices)

2. Improved video quality

3. File transfer – now you can share via Skype itself while talkin.

If you have one of the recent Android phones, I suggest you check Skype’s video whitelist as it has updated to support many more devices including the unreleased Droid 4!

Have you updated Skype on your phone? Let us know what improvement you were able to notice!
