Stephen Elop: Nokia Lumias Running Windows Phone 8 Coming In October

Jul 20th, 2012No Comments

Not as obvious piece of news as it seems, but Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, has confirmed that Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8 will be coming this October.

The Canada-born CEO was talking to The New York Times. In the interview, he said that the first Lumias running Apollo would be launched in October, in time for the holiday season. My opinion: one quarter late.

Microsoft had recently announced that it would be launching Windows 8 on October 26th, so this doesn’t really come as a surprise. What I’m expecting – Lumia tablets as well. They may or may not be called Lumia, but I’m expecting Nokia’s own tablet running Windows 8/RT, at least one.

Excited as bunch, really. I’ve tried all the preview versions of Windows 8 (Developer, Consumer and currently running Release Preview), and I can say one thing – it’s better and faster than any version of Windows, till date.
