Symbian Carla being tested on E6, E7 and 701, Will N8 get it too?

Feb 2nd, 20121 Comment

How’s this for interesting?

Symbian Carla, the next iteration after Belle (which should be out by the 8th of this February) is being rigorously tested to iron out any bugs that may be present. It is quite common to have future firmwares being tested in advance and Symbian is no exception. However what is of interest is the devices on which it is being tested.

MyNokiaTweet seems to have gotten their hands on some screenshots of the bug reporting for Carla. The devices it is being currently tried on are the E6, E7 and 701.

Now it is well known that E6 and E7 share similar hardware underneath their bodies with the N8′s hardware. So this raises the question of whether Carla will come to the N8 or not?

Now remember this is just testing and not leaks as in the case of Belle. So either N8 and similar hardware device will get Carla or devices like the E6 and E7 will be made in the future that run Carla.

The link which shows these details – https://sso.developer.nokia.com/login?service=http%3a%2f%2fwww.developer.nokia.com…. is inaccessible to people unless you are a developer. If you are we’d be very interested in knowing what’s happening out there.

Either ways it is quite exciting to know that somewhere in the wild there is an E6 and E7 running the next iteration of the Symbian lineage.

Hi, if any nokia engineers is reading this,
    I have a e6 on belle,
some  items of belle which i think is wrong,.
    1) In conversations, must press the enter right d pad before the envelop icon light up and and can send the sms.
    2) When received an sms, screen did not light up, i must unlock the phone the read the sms, my old 6500 screen lights up and prompts for reading. and i do not read it it will relock after some time.
    3) When receive a call, a delay before the screen lights, i think this is caused the the proximity sensor, i think it should light up and the proximity sensor should start to work.
